And what a year it has been!
Plenty of change and growth has happened in 2018 for Bookbarn, including renovations to our lovely Full Stop Café, shop changes, new staff and new services.
We want to say thank you to all of our new and old customers who have made this such a brilliant year for us, and we look forward to everything that awaits us in 2019.
We also wanted to share with you some of our favourite memories from the year.
Books by the Yard
In January we released our Books by the Yard service. We were incredibly pleased to be providing another outlet for all of the wonderful books that we receive everyday. Read more about our service here.
Belated World Book Day Celebrations
March gave us lots of snow days, including one on World Book Day! So we delayed our celebrations until one week later. You can read about it here.
In April, we had a great time working on renovating our café, and since then our café team have been able to provide an even better service than ever – earning them a Silver Award for Best Café/Tea Room in the 2018 Somerset Tourism Awards.
Our very first Kilo Sale
Our first May Fayre
We’ve been hosting Winter Fayres for three years, and they are always such good fun. This year we decided to host our first May Fayre. The weather held out for us and we were even able to have some stalls outside.
Darwin’s first birthday
On top of all of the lovely events we’ve hosted, we also celebrated the Darwin room’s first birthday this year, with an amazing cake made by the cafe staff.
Our Third Winter Fayre
This year’s Winter Fayre was so much fun, with a whole new array of stalls and delicious foods in the café. Read about it here.
We could go on and on about all of the wonderful things that we’ve been up to this year: lots of brilliant bookish workshops and ongoing Sugar craft courses, Poetry readings, Competitions, Summer holiday fun and so on and so on. But instead we’ll just say thank you to all of you for making it a great year for us, and thank our team for always working so hard. We’re going into 2019 with lots of optimism and positivity, and excitement for what the year holds for Bookbarn.
